Depression touches most of our lives, either directly or laterally. Could our genes be the key to determining an appropriate treatment? 23andMe conducted a major study with help of Pfizer’s Dr. Ashley Winslow, who joins the show in this final segment to discuss her findings. “This is the first kind of real hardcore findings that point to regions in our genome that associate with risk of depression.” Dr. Winslow has since moved on from Pfizer to be the Director of Neurogenetics for the Orphan Disease Center in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
